Knock Knock , Color Block

Rule of thumb for color blocking; 3 is company 4 is a crowd.  Three colors is usually the most appealing to the eye, four colors (or more) can be overwhelming.  When color-blocking, choose colors that compliment each other, adding a neutral tone (like i did) can give that perfect balance to your color-scheme.  I love layering my summer dresses to stay warm in the winter.  I wore a thin grey turtleneck, teal tights, and grey booties to match the 60's mod feel of the dress.  I chose a warm complimenting color for my coat to top off the look.

Lady in tweed

There's just something about tweed that automatically makes me feel sophisticated and powerful the moment I put it on.  The tweed era began in the 1920's when Coco Chanel borrowed sportswear (made of tweed) from her man and decided to make women's clothing out of the comfortable fabric.  Inspiration can come in all forms, even from a man!  Thank you Coco Chanel, you are a legend and have made tweed a closet staple that every lady should own!
I paired my timeless tweed jacket with leather shorts and a simple white blouse.

Me oh My, Winter has arrived.

Hello November, it's beginning to feel a lot like winter with the cold weather we are experiencing in Juneau lately.  We are only missing one thing, SNOW!  Until then, I'll continue to strut my heeled boots around the streets.  Here's a tip for when the snow arrives; wear your snow boots outside and carry your inside shoes in a shoe-bag.  Practical doesn't always meet fashionable and there's no point in ruining a good pair of shoes and freezing your toes off, all at once.  This season I'm really into rich colors, long layers, and high boots, the cozier the better!

Don't Mesh

Mesh with me for a moment, I literally feel like I can do anything in this top.  Mesh is back from the 80's, with the purpose to make a fashion statement and I can't deny the ultra 'cool' feeling I get when wearing it.  Let's talk about the pro's of Mesh; It's breathable (bring on the heat), it's see-through (wink, wink), and it's layerable (if that's a word). The con's; It's breathable (Burrr), it's see-through (oops) and TAN LINES (no thank-you).  The point is, this Mesh top is surprisingly versatile and very "on-trend" for 2014.  I paired it with a leather pencil skirt and simple accessories, you really don't need much or you may end up looking a mesh.  Keep it simple, the Mesh speaks for itself.  In the photo below you may notice a milk mustache on my upper lip, ignore it.  That was my agreement with my boyfriend so he would take my photo (our relationship in a nutshell).

Shoes on the Sand

It was a beautiful morning spent on Sandy beach taking photos for my favorite shoe store, Shoefly!  The burgundy platform bootie by (Steve Madden) gave me a boho vibe so I paired it with a maxi skirt and vintage crop top.  My white fringe bag also by (Steve Madden) is one of my favorites, I feel like every girl should own a fringe purse.
My next look was all business and comfort.  I'm wearing cropped jeans from (Zara), a statement leopard coat from (H&M), and the worlds comfiest shoes (Naot-made in Israel) we call them the cadillac of shoes at Shoefly for a reason.  Who said you can't mix black and brown?  Don't be scared to break that fashion myth, some of the most beautiful prints are black and brown--leopards, tigers, etc.

Sail out

Sunny days in Juneau, AK are undeniably gorgeous, not to mention rare.  There's nothing better than enjoying the great outdoors all the while wearing short shorts, right?  When it's hot outside I like to be comfortable...and chic of course, these two things can easily go together.  My definition of "chic" contains four simple rules, effortless/simplistic/classic/confident.  You can wear jeans and a t-shirt and look chic, unless you are wearing ugly shoes which is never chic (insert sassy emoji).  A few people come to mind when I think "chic"-- Miranda Kerr, Kate Moss, and Kendall Jenner are almost always tres chic and style icons at that.  I dressed down my lace shorts with a relaxed "painters shirt".  To keep the look fun (and practical) I paired the neutral tones with metallic bronze flats and a gold tote.

Day to Night

If you want to feel edgy and elegant at the same time combine leather and floral, it's the perfect combination of hard and soft.  I would wear this look to work or out to dinner with friends. If I wanted to extend my evening beyond dinner time and go dancing or get some drinks, I'd throw on a crop-top and add a red lip to spice up my mood for the night.  There are two essentials I need for going out, comfortable shoes and proper coverage.  There is nothing worse than dancing in a dress and stilettos.

Black and White

Some days are better seen in black and white, it's a classic color combination.  It will never go out of style, therefore you can never go wrong with a monochromatic look.

Snow leopards and Zebra's

My son Milian and I are like two peas in a pod, he is the ultimate definition of a "mama's boy" and i love it.  One of my favorite things to do is to coordinate his outfit to mine.  It's more like matching our moods than exact pieces, which makes it much easier to do because of our gender difference.  Today, we took a little walk on the wild side wearing our animal-print sweatshirts.

Freezing and Fabulous

Downtown Juneau was beautiful this morning, but don't let the sunshine fool you.  It was 20° with a 17mph windchill.  But enough about the weather, you can't beat this view.  Juneau's favorite shoe store "Shoefly" just got some new Spring sandals!  I don't suggest wearing them quite yet but NOW is the time to stock up before they disappear!
