Knock Knock , Color Block

Rule of thumb for color blocking; 3 is company 4 is a crowd.  Three colors is usually the most appealing to the eye, four colors (or more) can be overwhelming.  When color-blocking, choose colors that compliment each other, adding a neutral tone (like i did) can give that perfect balance to your color-scheme.  I love layering my summer dresses to stay warm in the winter.  I wore a thin grey turtleneck, teal tights, and grey booties to match the 60's mod feel of the dress.  I chose a warm complimenting color for my coat to top off the look.

Orange suede dress (Alaska Dames)
Camel jacket (HauteLook)
Teal tights (Shoefly)
Grey booties (Zara)

Lady in tweed

There's just something about tweed that automatically makes me feel sophisticated and powerful the moment I put it on.  The tweed era began in the 1920's when Coco Chanel borrowed sportswear (made of tweed) from her man and decided to make women's clothing out of the comfortable fabric.  Inspiration can come in all forms, even from a man!  Thank you Coco Chanel, you are a legend and have made tweed a closet staple that every lady should own!
I paired my timeless tweed jacket with leather shorts and a simple white blouse.
Tweed jacket (Zara)
White blouse (Calvin Klein-Lillete boutique)
Leather shorts (H&M)
Black booties (Vince Camuto-Shoefly)
Handbag (Kate Spade-Lillete boutique)
Sunglasses (Nastygal)

Get your tweed on!

Me oh My, Winter has arrived.

Hello November, it's beginning to feel a lot like winter with the cold weather we are experiencing in Juneau lately.  We are only missing one thing, SNOW!  Until then, I'll continue to strut my heeled boots around the streets.  Here's a tip for when the snow arrives; wear your snow boots outside and carry your inside shoes in a shoe-bag.  Practical doesn't always meet fashionable and there's no point in ruining a good pair of shoes and freezing your toes off, all at once.  This season I'm really into rich colors, long layers, and high boots, the cozier the better!
I'm wearing
Camel suede hat (Free People)
Camel wrap dress (Vicky Tiel-The Rose Boutique)
Over-the-Knee Burgundy Boots (Frye-Shoefly)
