Hello Governor

The Inaugural Ball is a time to celebrate our new standing governor, Bill Walker.  It is also one of Juneau's most formal events that happens once every four years.  Naturally, I was curious to see what people were wearing at the event.  I came to the Ball with my camera and notepad, ready to capture photos of outfits that caught my eye.  Enjoy!

  Meridith and Michaela
I spotted these jewel toned dresses as soon as I walked in.  Meridith brought back her senior prom dress for the event and looked elegant in the floor length violet gown.  Michaela is wearing her go-to yellow dress purchased from Ross Dress for Less, simple in the front and flirty in the back.  Her red lip is subtle but striking and pairs perfectly with the silky material.  Stunning!

       Michaela Fowler
Michaela is wearing her mother's dress and earrings from the 60's.  The vintage baroque print and velvet texture of the dress is beautifully unique.  I feel like this dress belongs in a museum, it is one of a kind.
          Lori and Virgil Fredenburg
The Fredenburg's clearly know how to dress for an Alaskan ball.  Virgil looked dapper in a suit from Alaskan Dames and Lori looked ravishing in a long black velvet dress with gold buttons down the front.  Lori's native design scarf is hand crafted by Cory Mann who also owns the company Stories and Legends was the perfect accessory to add color and flare.  She is also wearing patent red Earthies brand shoes purchased earlier that day from Lilette.  On her hand she wears an authentic ring made from her fathers cuff link.

         Coleen Hickman
Coleen is looking fancy in fur, she wanted to be comfortable and warm for the event.  Her monochromatic color scheme is done well as she incorporates different textures in her look.  The fur (given to Coleen from her mother-in-law) adds a taste of luxury.  To top off her look she wore a statement necklace purchased from Disneyland.  Coleen looks like a million bucks!

      Nona Dimond
Nona went searching for a new outfit the day of the ball, she wanted something different than her usual business attire.  She found this elegant orange dress and black cape from Lilette.  The orange collar necklace looks like it was made for the outfit and her Poetic License shoes add a touch of sparkle.  Nona looks like a modern day Audrey Hepburn, I wouldn't change a thing about her look!

             Lindsey and Quinten Hennekam
I was stunned by this couple, they really went all out with their ensembles.  Lindsey wanted to wear something formal and sexy but not inappropriate, I think she nailed it.  You can tell every detail was thought out,  the rhinestones on the dress match the shoes and the red satin gloves really complete the look .  Lindsey purchased the shoes and gloves from Payless and bought the dress for only $40.  She is proof you can look like a movie star on a budget.  Quinten wore a suit from his wardrobe and purchased his tie locally, to coordinate with his lady in red.

Forrest Wolfe
Forrest told me he's wearing a very simple number.  A casual Brooks Brothers shirt and Calvin Klein jacket. In his words his tuxedo pants hit the waist and slim at the ankles, sounds like the perfect fit.  On the regular,  Forrest almost always looks like a walking advertisement for Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger, but in this suit he looks like James Bond. Way to go Forrest!

Jessie and Scott
The inspiration of their outfit's came from the gold and navy colors on the Alaskan flag.  Jessie looks gorgeous wearing a gold sequin floor length dress from Rent the Runway and her grandmothers necklace from the 70's.  Scott is looking dapper in a pin-striped vintage Badgley Mischka suit.  I love the unique idea to represent the colors of the Alaskan flag, it's brilliant!

Nicole Roldan
Nicole looks stunning in this black and white gown.  The cut out's add a touch of sexiness but overall she looks sophisticated.  She wore this dress to her senior prom and I think she can get away with wearing it time and time again, it's classic.

I chose to wear this royal blue dress from Lulu's because it's the perfect combination of comfort and elegance.  The dress is simple so having the right accessories is important.  My blue/gold tassel earrings from Nastygal add a fun dynamic and just so happen to match my dress perfectly.  My striped leather clutch is a bold statement against the blue and gives a touch of edginess.  I wore a classic Vince Camuto shoe from Shoefly.  The event was a blast and I was happy to see everyone dressed up for the occasion.
